Director of Growth
Salary: Up to £140,000 + 20% Bonus + Equity
Location: London (Hybrid – 4 days in office)
Our client is one of the UK’s leading technology businesses, currently undergoing a major transformation as it evolves from a traditional lead-generation platform into a modern, technology-led marketplace. With a significant and growing base of free users on the Trade side of the business, one of the company’s biggest commercial opportunities is now turning that scale into predictable, sustainable revenue. As part of this next phase of growth, they’re looking to appoint a Director of Growth to lead the end-to-end growth strategy across the Trade side of the business.
The successful individual will sit at the intersection of Marketing, Product, Sales, CRM, Data and Commercial, with responsibility for redesigning the entire growth engine across acquisition, activation, onboarding, conversion, retention and expansion.
The Opportunity
- Own the end-to-end Trade Growth strategy across acquisition, activation, onboarding, conversion, retention and expansion.
- Build a scalable growth engine that turns a large free user base into predictable recurring revenue.
- Lead a significant multi-channel acquisition strategy and determine where investment should increase, reduce or shift.
- Improve conversion, activation, retention and customer lifetime value across the full trade journey.
- Partner closely with Product to identify and remove friction across onboarding, self-serve conversion and customer experience.
- Work closely with Sales to define the right balance between self-serve, Product-led and Sales-assisted Growth.
- Identify and scale new incremental Growth channels beyond the existing acquisition mix.
- Build a rigorous experimentation and measurement framework to understand what is genuinely driving incremental commercial growth.
- Lead an established Growth function across Growth, CRM, Content and Design, with the opportunity to shape the team and operating model.
- Play a highly visible role within the senior leadership team and help shape the future commercial direction of the business.
Responsibilities
- Define and deliver the long-term Growth strategy across the full Trade customer lifecycle.
- Diagnose funnel inefficiencies and identify the highest-value opportunities across acquisition, activation, conversion, retention and expansion.
- Own acquisition strategy across Paid, Organic, Partnerships, Referral, Product-led Growth and emerging channels.
- Develop segmentation and targeting strategies across different Trade/SMB audiences.
- Build nurture and lifecycle programmes across CRM, email, SMS, WhatsApp, in-product and outbound channels.
- Partner with Sales to improve lead quality, qualification, handoffs, conversion and revenue outcomes.
- Work with Product, Data and Engineering to improve onboarding, activation, product adoption and monetisation.
- Establish structured experimentation roadmaps across Marketing, Product and the customer journey.
- Build attribution, incrementality and measurement frameworks that connect Growth investment directly to revenue.
- Define and manage key Growth metrics including CAC, LTV, payback, activation, upgrade conversion, ARPU and retention.
- Lead, develop and evolve the existing Growth team while building an effective cross-functional operating model.
Your Profile
- 10+ years’ experience across Growth, Marketing or Commercial Growth roles.
- Strong experience within B2B technology, SaaS, subscription, marketplace or SME-focused businesses.
- Proven experience owning Growth across the full customer lifecycle rather than purely acquisition.
- Strong understanding of self-serve / Product-led Growth and Sales-assisted conversion.
- Experience developing and scaling multi-channel acquisition strategies at meaningful scale.
- Commercially minded with strong knowledge of CAC, LTV, payback, retention, conversion and revenue economics.
- Experience working closely with Product, Data, Engineering and Sales to solve Growth problems.
- Proven ability to identify and scale new Growth channels and commercial opportunities.
- Strong experimentation mindset with experience using data, testing and incrementality to make investment decisions.
- Comfortable leading at a strategic level while remaining close enough to the detail to diagnose and solve Growth challenges.
- Experience building or transforming Growth teams, operating models and processes.
- Strong interest in AI, automation and how technology can create leverage across Growth.
