We’re supporting a confidential search for a senior, exec-facing strategy role within a data- and technology-led organisation operating across retail, consumer and commercial ecosystems.
The business sits at the intersection of data, analytics, platforms and commercial services, working with complex clients on high-value growth and transformation challenges. It has deep capability, strong leadership, and significant ambition - but is now at a point where clearer strategic choices are required to unlock its next phase of growth.
This is a newly created role designed to help do exactly that.
The Opportunity
At its core, this role exists to answer one question:
Where should the business play next - and how should it decide?
You’ll act as a trusted thought partner to the executive team, taking ownership of the most ambiguous, high-impact questions facing the organisation and bringing structure, rigour and commercial judgement to them.
This is not a traditional delivery role, nor a long-term P&L position. Instead, you’ll move from opportunity to opportunity:

framing and sizing new market spaces

testing demand, willingness to pay and commercial viability

defining where the organisation can create a defensible advantage

building evidence-backed business cases
-
enabling clear go / no-go decisions at senior leadership level
It’s closest in-house to a top-tier consulting problem set, but with real ownership, visibility and influence over what gets built, scaled — or intentionally stopped.
What You’ll Be Doing
Proposition & Market Triage

Take broad, loosely defined strategic questions and turn them into clear decision frameworks.

Assess new growth opportunities across data, analytics, platforms, services and hybrid models.

Apply intellectual honesty — knowing when to progress, pivot or walk away.
Executive Partnership
-
Work closely with the CEO, CPO and senior leadership as a trusted advisor.

Translate complex analysis into clear, compelling executive narratives.

Influence strategic direction without formal authority.
Cross-Functional Orchestration
-
Pull together input from product, platform, data, commercial and finance teams.

Help teams understand what should be built and why, without owning long-term execution.

Reduce friction by removing ambiguity early.
Commercial Judgement
-
Evaluate whether opportunities are best served through product, data science, managed services, consulting — or a blend.

Ensure propositions are repeatable, scalable and commercially credible.
Your Background
You’re likely to bring a combination of:

Strategy consulting experience (top-tier or specialist)
-
Strong exposure to retail, consumer or adjacent commercial sectors
-
A proven ability to structure ambiguity and operate confidently at exec level
-
Experience shaping propositions, growth strategies or new commercial plays
-
Comfort working alongside technical teams without needing to be a technologist
Above all, you bring judgement - the ability to balance ambition with realism and make decisions that stand up under scrutiny.
