A leading global media agency is seeking a Media Planning Director for a 6 month Fixed Term Contract to take ownership of strategic planning across one of their largest EMEA clients.

The Planning Director role sits at the intersection of strategy and insight and delivery and is responsible for shaping media approaches that drive measurable business outcomes.

You will lead the development of integrated, data-driven media strategies across digital, traditional and emerging channels, ensuring plans are aligned to client objectives, market conditions and agreed KPIs. Working closely with senior planning support, you will oversee end-to-end planning output, interrogate media responses and ensure investment remains effective, efficient and within budget.

Acting as the senior client contact, you will build trusted relationships with clients and media partners, translating business challenges into clear strategic recommendations. Internally, you will collaborate with investment, insight and activation teams to ensure media plans align with broader brand and marketing strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of integrated media strategies across digital, social, TV, print, radio and outdoor
  • Own client relationships at a senior level and represent client interests internally and externally
  • Define channel mix and investment approach based on audience insight, market research and performance data
  • Ensure campaigns deliver against agreed objectives, budgets and timelines
  • Guide and quality-control planning output from junior team members

Skills and experience

  • Senior-level experience in media planning with strong understanding of both traditional and digital channels
  • Proven ability to develop insight-led media strategies aligned to commercial and marketing objectives
  • Confident briefing and challenging internal investment teams and external media partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, using data to inform strategic decisions
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the evolving media landscape, including emerging platforms, automation and AI
  • Experience managing and developing junior team members, delegating effectively to deliver at pace

This is a leadership role for someone comfortable owning the planning for a key client in a fast-moving agency environment.
